Psychedelic assisted therapy in PPD may have a positive effect on the mother-infant dyad and warrants further examination.
14C-Psilocin tissue distribution in pregnant rats after intravenous administration | Functional Foods in Health and Disease
This study investigated the disposition kinetics of 14C-psilocin in pregnant rats after intravenous injection. The results showed that psilocin readily crossed the placental and blood-brain barriers in pregnant rats. Psilocin was eliminated slowly from fetal tissues, suggesting that consumption of magic mushrooms should be avoided during pregnancy.
